Welcome to SFDS's
Middle School Tech
Class Wiki!
A wiki is a website that is created and edited by all of us, together. Unlike think.com, which you are familiar with from last year, this wiki is public. Being public means that anyone, anywhere can read it. But not anyone can create or change our wiki. Only those of us with the special mstech wiki password can be the contributors. You can work on it any place that has an internet connection--like your classroom, at home, or the library--and your friends and family can read it anywhere too!
COMMUNICATE . . . COLLABORATE . . . CREATE
It is my goal to make this wiki (with your help, of course) the hub of our classroom activities. We are a work in progress. Here is a video (provided by the folks at pbwiki) to help you get started with your wiki pages:

Class Blog
We will return to classblogmeister again this year.
Blog Assignments 2008-09
1. Pick a maxim from this list:
MidHigh-Maxims-V1-Issue1.pdf
2. Re-type the maxim word-for-word (with quotation marks!) and type who said it in your blog.
3. Skip a line and restate the maxim in your own words (explain what it means). In paragraph form, tell why it speaks to you--Is it something you need to work on to become a better person? Do you have some experience with what the maxim is talking about? Do you know someone who embodies that philosopy? Who and how? Is there something you could do or learn to become more like the person who said it?
4. Check your mechanics (grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc) and edit before requesting publication.
5. Remember to both SAVE and request publishing when you are satisfied with your work.
6. Don't forget to comment on TWO other student's work.
You can access and print a copy of the blog rubric here:

Resources for Video Project
Here is a source for copyright friendly sounds, music, video, and images.
Even though it's copyright friendly, you still need to cite your sources, so don't forget to keep a list of URL's where you borrowed material.
Here's another source for sound effects and music.
Here's a place where you can search for works you can borrow without permission.
Here's an easy, online way to format your bibliography (the credits at the end of your video).
